How To Be A Sustainable Book Nerd

There aren’t many people in the world who love a good book more than me but my lovely friend Vicki is one of them! It amazes me how fast she gets through books and I was delighted when she said she would like to share with you today how she makes sure that she can be as sustainable as possible when sourcing books. Thank you Vicki for writing today’s post. As an English student, I am a huge book nerd. I will read anything and everything available to me, and dream of one day having my own persona

Am I Normal Yet? - Holly Bourne

This book is one of my favourite books, and Holly Bourne one of my favourite authors. I will be doing my best to give an unbiased review of it! I feel like the characters she writes that have mental illnesses are some of the best representations that I have seen in Young Adult fiction. She also approaches the subject with care, making sure that she is properly educated on the topics that come up in her novels. At the back of my copy, there’s a Q & A with Bourne, and one of the questions asks abo

Turtles All The Way Down by John Green

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I am not normally a John Green fan and started reading it with low expectations, but actually enjoyed reading it and appreciated the representation of a character with OCD. I have looked up summaries of how the book ends. The protagonist of the novel, Aza, comes across as a fully fleshed

The Battle to Live Sustainably with a Chronic Illness

Today’s post is a bit different, I have my lovely friend Vicki Webb writing for me (and you guys of course). We have been friends for 7 years now and through that time I have seen her at some of her lowest points as she has battle chronic illness. She is an incredibly strong person and asked if she could share her experiences of trying to manage her health while trying to help the planet too! Of course, I couldn’t say yes quick enough! Hope you enjoy it. Lottie xx As someone who lives with a co

OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu

If I had to give this book a rating out of 5, it would get a 0. Ignoring all of the issues regarding the representation of mental health and therapy, the writing and the love story are bad. None of the characters appear to have any personality or interests outside of their mental illnesses. Yes, when your mental illness is at its worst it can feel like it consumes you, but I still have other personality traits and interests outside of it. I could still talk about anything other than my mental il
